Essentials of Tai Chi
These are the movements in the Essentials of Tai Chi Form from my own notes:
Start facing North
- Preparation
- get ready, feet together
- shift weight left, sink down
- step out right
- shift weight center, sink
- tai Chi Beginning
- sink shoulders to raise arms
- sink elbows
- sink wrist raise hands
- push down both hands
- Wave hands like Clouds (2 times)
- weight left, block left
- turn left, invert hands
- weight right, hands up and down
- turn right, invert hands
- Grasp the birds tail
- weight left, press right
- turn left, weight left, drag down
- weight right, block left, raise hands
- cross hands and press
- Single Whip
- weight right, block right, relax left
- turn right hook hand, left palm up
- left foot outward pivot, block left
- weight left, push left
- Crossing Hands
- left foot inward pivot, weight center, separate hands
- palms to fists, cross hands down
- lift fists
- change weight to center, relax fist to palms
- Conclusion
- press down, sink down
- separate hands
- relax, straighten up and down
- right foot touch left
