I decided to see if I can get speech synthesis working on my Linux box. It is all part of a grand home automation project. I want to have the system read me the current temperature. Looking around the Linux Home Automation project page, I found Festival, a speech synthesis system from niversity of Edinburgh's Centre for Speech Technology Research.
